Even The Cat Likes Scarves

I have two cats at home and of course they love my knitting projects.  Especially if I am winding up my yarn or knitting a project.  So of course all of my projects have become the best cat toy in the world.  Not to mention the fact that the most common phrase that you hear in my house is "Cat leave the yarn alone".

Well this latest project was no exception....however, my youngest wanted to get involved in the photo shoot as you can see below:

As you can see Mattie really likes this scarf but she can't keep it because its a gift for my sister ;-)

The yarn used above was: Rozetti Marina Multi; Color 51023 Magic Hat; 100% Acrylic; 100 g 30m/33yds

Ah the joys of knitting with cats......

After Holiday Projects

After the holidays I wanted to do a few small projects.  I was learning different techniques for making scarves.

As you can see below I had a bit of fun with lots of different colors and yarn types:

Rozetti Marina Multi; Color 51016 Galaxy; 100% Acrylic; 100 g 30m/44 yds

Knitting Fever Inc. Tinseltown; Color 19 Green/Purple; 90% Acrylic 10 % Polyester; 100 g 44 yds/40m

Knitting Fever Inc. Tinseltown; Color 14 Turquoise/med Blue; 90% Acrylic 10 % Polyester; 100 g 44 yds/40m

Knitting Fever Inc. Sparkle; Color 9 Red Combo; 95% Acrylic 5 % Metallic Polyester; 100 g 44 yds/40m
So I ended my year with a bit of color and fun attempting different types and styles of yarn.  They were fun to work with and I look forward to knitting more of them in the future.

Off to more knitting ........

The 18 Month Dress Project from H E C K .....

Remember the blanket project from a while back.....it was the one for my niece that was supposed to be done when she was born...  Well there was a dress that was supposed to go with it.  This dress was started and ripped out several times before I gave up on it and put it aside for a while.  After I finished the blanket my best friend and fellow knitter and I worked on re-translating the dress pattern to better explain the reduction of stitches with regards to the diamond pattern.  Below is the finished project:

Now of course we wanted to have a picture or two of Frieda in the dress but trying to get her to slow down can be rather difficult.  So we ran around with her trying to capture her in the dress as you see below it was fun......

It fits!!!!!!!!!! and she looked pretty happy running around in it....whew.....A successful project completed.  One thing I learned from this project was patience, patience, and patience......and when in doubt rip it out and start over after you have given yourself time to work on other projects ;-)

Project is worked with Plymouth Baby;Pattern is Sandnes Lanett 0812 Baby 0-4

Twas the Night Before Xmas......

Twas the night before Xmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring except for the knitter......busy working on the last pair of socks to be given on Christmas day.  All that could be heard throughout the house was her needles clicking away.  Knitting as fast as she could so her uncle would get his Christmas socks.  Try as she might she was having no luck getting them finished in time.  So under the tree was an IOU....However before I left Houston the socks were complete.....a little later than planned but they turned out pretty great!

I used size 3 needles with Koigu Wool Designs; 100% Merino Wool; Color number KPPPMP161; 50 g/175 yds/ 160 m

With all of the socks done for the holidays it is time to work on other knitting projects ;-)

The Sock Invasion Continues.....

As Christmas approaches the elves are busy making socks.....we have finished another set....this one is for my brother-in-law, Tim.  The elves tried a new type of yarn and it was amazing to work with.  It is really soft and warm.  The elves told me that they thought it might make a really comfortable sweater but for socks it knits a little loose so the socks turned out a little big.

The elves used size 3 needles with Ellyn Cooper's Yarn Sonnets Hand-dyed Yarns; Zohar's Socks; 65% Superwash Merino Wool, 35% Bamboo; Color: Woodsy; 420 yards 3 oz.

The socks were finished in enough time to wrap them up and put them under the tree in time for Christmas.
